Rose was a nursery-woman, insurance and real estate broker, antique dealer, policewoman, sailor, banker, philanthropist, and more. In 1918, Rose was appointed Police Matron for the village of Newark, a role she had until she retired in 1931. An animal lover, she organized and was the first president of the SPCA in Wayne County. She strongly supported the Women's Rights movement and arranged for many Suffrage speakers to come to Newark.
