Volunteer at the Museum of History
To kneel upon the hills of Wayne...
Do you love Wayne County, NY as much as we do? Do you have fond memories of growing up here or just visiting? One such person wrote a poem about her childhood memories of Wayne County (Mary Ashley Townsend , Ye Hills of Wayne, 1877).
Like Mary, we aim to capture the essence of Wayne County within the walls of the Museum and then share it within the hearts of our members, sponsors and visitors. We envision a world-class museum that will make Wayne County proud; one person, one hour, one artifact at a time.
If you have a passion to preserve local history, then you are in the right place.
Do you have children or parents who are also part of the legacy of people from Wayne County? Do you live here, or nearby, and would like to carve out an hour or two to help us out occasionally?
We are building a team of volunteers who are willing to dedicate small amounts of time and energy toward the following tasks:
-
cataloging artifacts
-
building and updating displays
-
re-imagining exhibit space
-
researching local topics
-
sharing our story with visitors
-
tidying up around 1000s of artifacts housed within our walls
-
contributing to our quarterly newsletter or monthly emails
-
planning events & promoting the museum
-
selling retail products featured in our Museum Gift Shop
-
landscaping and gardening around the property
We hope you will seriously consider joining us for a few hours this year. Please fill out the form below and let us know when you are available. THANK YOU!
